Black and White by: Paul Volponi

This is an interesting, on the edge of your seat type of story. The thick line that separates black and whites is crossed by two high school basketball stars of opposite colors. They are on the same team and they are best friends.  They can’t get a job because they are always too busy between school and basketball. They are behind on the latest gears, clothes, and girls. They come up with a scheme to catch up. Maybe it’s a good idea maybe it’s not. The name of black and white could be ruined with one lousy mistake. Can they get through these tough times together? Can they end high school as a success or will they’re friendship be ruined forever?  Take a look inside and see for yourself.   I loved this book because it shows young people that one mistake could ruin life forever. I would recommend it to others and because it is such a thriller and valuable lessons may be learned.

BLUE STAR RAPTURE

By: James W. Bennett

I am weighting a review on the book “Blue star Rapture” I've have never read a great basketball book like this one. I really like this book because of the main characters Tyron and T.J... The reason why I really love this book is because Tyron and T.J. are friends and T.J helps his friend stay out of trouble. Another reason why this book is great is because it relates to me. T.J. meets a lot of people to help him with his college career to learn how to play a power game and come out on top. If you haven’t read this book well you should go read it NOW!! My favorite part of the book is when Tyron was about to give up and go home and end his college career T.J. as a friend helps him get back on his feet. Tyron didn't give up and that’s what I like about Tyron and T.J’s friend relationship. The reason why I choose this book is because it is relating to basketball. MY favorite sport is basketball I play it myself as well, and to see what Tyron has been through in college is great. Even though I am not in college yet I will be very much prepared as a student athlete.

I would recommend this book to others if they play any type of sport, mostly basketball. The reason why I would recommend this book to others is because it tells you about life if you’re a student athlete. I would also recommend it to people who have a good best friend that helps them a lot threw things in life.

Jim (Iowa) -- High Heat by Carl Deuker. One of the best books I read last year was a book that initially, I didn't think I care for at all. Sports books just aren't my genre, but "High Heat" turned-out to be an excellent read! The story centers around 16 year-old Shane Hunter who enjoys a very comfortable lifestyle in a gated community in the suburbs. But everything in Shane's life comes crashing down--even his great passion for baseball--after his father is indicted for money laundering. Deuker deals with great themes: loss, shame, guilt, and redemption. I highly recommend the book to sports and non-sports readers alike.

SHOTS ON GOAL by Rich Wallace

SHOTS ON GOAL is one of the best books I have read so far in the past year and I didn't really want to read the book but since it was about the sport I play it took my attention just a bit. The book is mainly about two friends Bones and Joey and their school soccer team trying to make it to districts while they struggle with their friendship. Their friendship starts grumbling down because of this girl that Joey is going out with but Bones also wants to go out with this girl but he can’t because she’s going out with Joey. When I first started to read the book it didn't seem too exciting but as it got closer to the end I started to actually like the book and read more and more. As the book gets closer and closer to the end you start to read more to see what is going to happen next because the books starts out calm and gets intense towards the end. Towards the end the girl is no longer going out with Joey and Bones decides to forget about her to make his friendship with Joey back the way it was but Bones still likes her.  This book itself is not the best sports fiction out there but it can get you to really change your mind about reading and gives the wanting to read more and more until you are done with the book.  The thing that I most enjoyed about this book was the fact that it was about soccer but is also about friendship and at the end of the day friendship is what matters most and is really cool how the book ends. I would recommend this book to anyone because it just one of the best sports fiction book out there and it gets hype up when you get more into the story.  Sports and non-sports reader would be able to enjoy this book but it all depends on what type of book genre you like.
